Elisa Migliacci is a multidisciplinary artist and sculptor whose work exists at the intersection of portraiture and natural history. She creates whimsical, anthropomorphic figures that feel both familiar and quietly unexpected, with a refined attention to surface, detail, and presence.
Her creative life began in her grandmother’s kitchen, shaping forms from dough. That instinct to build by hand led her to study fine art sculpture in Philadelphia, where she also worked for a sculpture studio contributing to large-scale installations, including work for Caesars Casino in Atlantic City. She later moved to Los Angeles to study toy design, developing a practical understanding of materials, fabrication, production, and industrial design.
In California, she worked as a sculptor for Mattel’s Male Action Group. Back on the East Coast, her work expanded into New York City, where she created prints, patterns, and illustrations as a children’s apparel artist.
She founded Pudge Cakes Bake Shop in New Hope, Pennsylvania, creating sculptural edible centerpieces and confections. Her work was featured twice on the Food Network.
Across each chapter, her work has remained rooted in building, material, and character.
Gilded Figments marks a return to sculpture and a coming together of her creative path. Each piece is built by hand using layered materials such as paper clay, plaster, and paint, and is set within vintage and thrifted frames, reflecting her ongoing connection to antique and collected objects.
Elisa lives and works in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, where she is currently renovating her nearly 100-year-old home, an extension of her passion for building, history, and the beauty of timeworn materials. She continues to develop this body of work from her studio, the Figmentarium.
Gilded Figments is a growing archive of anthropomorphic portraiture, where each piece exists as both subject and story.
